Consistently Low Quality of Writing
Yahoo, what exactly are the minimum criteria you look for when hiring your writers? Do you hire any schlub who applies for a journalism job? Obviously the qualifying criteria to write for you is low, as every day I read at least one article which is rife with mistakes. I honestly do not suspect that most Americans pick up on many of these mistakes; however, for those of us who are skilled in the use of the English language, reading articles produced by you insults our intelligence. How difficult is it for a professional writer to proof read their work at least once before publishing it? If your writers are proof reading their work before submitting it for publication, then they need to find other lines of work, because they are clearly not skilled enough to be writing professionally. If you are putting articles on your website that have been written or published by other agencies, then whoever is responsible for putting them on your website should develop higher standards for what should pass for good writing, because what I have been reading has been absolute garbage. In an article titled "UFC 157 Rousey vs. Carmouche Weigh-in Results: History in the Making" by MMA Weekly (no author- go figure, I wouldn't put my name on this **** either), I found several egregious misuses of the English language- errors which should not be committed by any so-called professional writer.
One such error: There's will be the UFC's first women's title bout...
Another: Before they step in the Octagon to put that all in the history books, they first stepped on the scale on Friday afternoon at the Honda Center.
While the second error here is just lazy writing and could easily have been written better, the first is an error that any middle school graduate should be ashamed to make, yet publish- and here you are, slapping the Yahoo! seal of approval on it. If you want to be taken seriously as a source of news and information then please do something to solve these problems; however, if you wish to be thought of as a bunch of talentless hacks, then by all means please continue to publish garbage.
Sincerely,
A. R.

I've written several messages to Yahoo about this very thing. You have said basically the same thing I have. I'm glad to finally see someone else who agrees with me and actually calls them on it. And it's not only their writers. It's also their editors. Do they just not have an editors? That's my best guest.

Yahoo has some of the worst writers. There are lots of people out there that can do a better job than the ones writing articles on Yahoo.
