Dakar Timing
Please show the Dakar on time at a sensible time. forget the live waffle with the stars. Stick to the roundup prog 20mins each on bikes cars and trucks like it used to be. I have managed to miss most of you coverage this year. 3/10 try ******

What a disappointment - in 20 years of watching Eurosport I have never had such a bad service. Why can't we watch a round up programme instead of the Olympics? I can understand the over -run of live programmes but there is no excuse for not showing the round up. The same time each day is better as I have seen hardly any of the action this year and nothing of the final day or winners!! This is now 2 years where the Dakar race has had poor coverage and it hardly seems worth the effort to try and follow it if great chunks are missing - what a shame for the great athletes who give of their best racing in their cars, bikes and trucks.

EUROSPORT DAKAR TV COVERAGE
Am I alone in feeling an intense sense of relief that the Dakar TV coverage is finished?
I am released from relentless music/noise, flashing unexplained images, pointless interviews e.g. “It was hard today, I remained focused and I did my best” – surely this applies to all the competitors, and inadequate descriptions of the stages. Also whilst it is good to know the front-runners and their main opponents what about the many other competitors whose trials and tribulation would be much more interesting. Also aerial shots of the competitors in the last few kilometres before the day’s finish get pretty boring.
A point that definitely needs improvement is the description of the stage, the total length (surely this is one of the biggest challenges in terms of fitness, mechanical reliability and tiredness), and types of hazards involved, their length, height and difficulty. How many competitors came to grief, where and why? Where are the time controls, at what distances how many and how difficult to find? Even the liaisons could benefit from better description – how long, where do they refuel, elevation etc?
Finally, the frequent digital breakdown of the soundtrack makes the commentary almost unintelligible at times.
None of this is intended as criticism of Clinton Kirby who seems to be doing the best he can with what he is presented. Also Adelaide has a difficult and repetitive job and does her best.
Come on Eurosport - it is the most challenging motorsport event in the world, you have the technology – 4/10 could do a lot better! -

Sunday 20th. The final day of the Dakar. No coverage, although it was advertised originally for 11pm, then 11.20pm, nothing came on. It was still showing Dakar should be, on but tennis was being shown. No apology, no message to say it wasnt coming on, or re-schedule time. Very very poor service.

I agree, the "live" feed is too confusing, without any meaningful structure. We also don't want to see 90% of the program an interview in French or Spanish. Show us the action, and let an Englishman fill in the details. Coverage? 2/10.

Perhaps one should complain to the organizers of the Dakar directly:

Would be nice if it started on time as well. Take tonight, should have been on at 10.00 but will now be on at 11.00 due to the sodding snooker. Been the same since the rally started :o(
