The picture of Nicosia belongs to the occupied part of Nicosia which is held illegally by Turkey since 1974. We demand that a proper picture of the free part of Nicosia is displayed, and of the recognised Republic of Cyprus.

The current display suggests that Yahoo supports the crimes commited by Turkey in Cyprus for the last 39 years. These crimes have been categorised as a GENOCIDE!!! Does Yahoo agree with the **** of innocents, murder of war criminals, destruction of or culture, expulsion of 200 000 Greeks from their ancestral lands?

This does not only requires a change of picture but also a formal apology to the victims and their relatives who have been suffering for almost 39 years!

It is rather unacceptable the fact that a company of your magnitude and importance has fallen to such an error. (I, well-intentioned, choose to consider it so). Representing internationally the Cypriot capital with the flag of a country that only 30 years ago invaded and violently occupied almost half the island, commiting ferocious atrocities (Turkey) and the flag of a self-styled, internationally not recognised puppet state (Self-styled "Republic of Northern Cyprus") is, at least, revolting and offensive to the Greek-cypriot majority of the Island. For the reasons mentioned above, I alongside with many offended Greeks and Cypriots kindly request of you that you change that certain image.

On 20 July 1974, Turkey launched an invasion with 40,000 troops against defenceless Cyprus. Since 1974, 37% of the island is under Turkish military occupation and 200,000 Cypriots, close to 40% of the total Cypriot population, were forced to leave their homes and land in the occupied area and were turned into refugees. Turkey engaged in the criminal acts of murdering thousands of Greek Cypriots, 1619 are still missing presumed murdered as well and Turkey still does not reveal the whereabouts of these people in order relieve their families of the misery of waiting and dying without knowing what happened to their loved ones. The Turkish invading army raped well over 800 Greek Cypriot women of all ages. The actual number to be precise reaches 2,000 and the 800 number represents those who had abortions.
Turkey has systematically ethnic cleansed the Greek Cypriots of the northern region of Cyprus and illegally seizing control of properties. Proof of genocide they have replaced the Greek Cypriots with approximately 600,000 Anatolian Turks purely to change the demographics of Cyprus. Cyprus has always been an important strategic country for the countries which wish to just take advantage of a very small nation of 631,778 in 1974, therefore one third of the Greek Cypriot population in Cyprus has been ethic cleansed because the Cypriots could not defend themselves against Turkey military power.
The Northern part of Cyprus Turkey has declared it as “TRNC” which no other country on Earth recognises except for Turkey.

The European Commission of Human Rights of the Council of Europe in its report adopted on 10 July 1976 found Turkey responsible for the eviction of the Greek Cypriots from their homes, for its refusal to allow their return to their homes and for the looting and deprivation of their possessions.

Furthermore, in 18 Dec 1996, the Court found Turkey responsible for continuing violation of human rights in the Turkish occupied area of Cyprus and, refused, moreover to accept the legitimacy of the breakaway regime subsequently set up in occupied Cyprus, stating that the Republic of Cyprus remains the sole legitimate government on the island.
