Please stop labelling "top commenters" with those awful gold badges.
Why are you doing this? We already have thumbs to indicate popularity as well as a "most popular" rating. Now we have these distracting gold badges in our faces too? What's the point of handing them out? A large percentage of the posters on Yahoo are 40+ and we really don't appreciate being treated like we're still in elementary school. We just want to post our opinions and discuss them with other adults who don't care if they're "popular". Please get some grownup opinions before you pull this stuff.
Hi Yahoo! News readers,
Thanks for all of your feedback. We have heard you and took action accordingly. Please come back any time to give us any suggestions.
Your continued patronage and suggestions are a vital part of our growth. And for that, we are most grateful.
Best Regards,
Yahoo! Product Support

There you have it--one person complaining that only leftist comments are getting them followed by another claiming all the rightist comments are getting them. The fact is pretty clear there is ZERO criteria other than sheer volume, regardless of content, to get the badge of a "top commenter." My cat can to that. What a freakin' joke. Whoever dreamed this up, along with whoever approved it, should be fired.

Most of the top contributors I see are left leaning. It seems these gold seals are chosen by computers.

Why are ALL the so called "top contributors" right leaning? You have something against lefties?

You are selecting racist commenters. I am not supporting any advertisers and will tell my friends to do the same. I am also contactingmthre advertisers and telling them why I am not supporting their products!!!!!!

It's also juvenile to hide posts and prevent further thumbs up or thumbs down votes, just because 8 people don't like the politics of the post.

One of their "top commenters" just asked three different questions about what "wasn't in the article" that would have been answer had he actually read the article, as I did. This is ridiculous.

Toyally agree! Plus I find most comments with these gold badges are useless, so I question the validity of Yahoo's criteria

I have a badge...woohoo. I come for fun, not to be labeled. It is kind of juvenile, don't you think? Can we opt out if we don't want our badge?

Many of these "top contributors" put nothing informative or though provoking, and anyone on here knows those type of comments are far and few between regardless. In this case, by all means do research into those that receive "badges" and you'll find a common thread between them..... Types of people that swarm comment section just to rant, appointing the top ranter.

i saw this post. waste of time and a total joke.
"harry is a moron without a clue...as are all dems..."if that's a quality post, i hate to see what your standards are. you made up the guidelines, not me.

One of these gold badge commenters had the word "********" in the comment. Is this a winning entry?

I just read a comment by one of these "top commenters" where they gave advice on how to get a higher body count while committing a mass shooting.

Stop using thumbs down to hide posts. People who disagree with a political or religious belief are ganging up on posts. If the6y are monitoring, it takes only 8 people to hide a post. Once the post is hidden, people can add thumbs down, but not thumbs up.
Get rid of this anti-free-speech feature. And get rid of the gold seals.
