Hi, please let us know how we can improve News further.

Please stop censoring the "C" and "K" in all the words in news comments.

This is ridiculous and sensors words like "stuck" and "ticket." This makes it difficult to read the comments.

Don't even try to type something about the former VP Cheney and use his first name. There are just waaaay too many banned words, completely unreal. You can't post the word "crook" anymore. or use the word "moron" or "******", goodbye Yahoo fun-suckers.

I have enjoyed Yahoo for many years, but I am about to take to starting at 500 flash ads elsewhere because they block a great many of my posts and I do not even curse.
My posts tend to be more anti gov and expose the ties between gov and big biz and that gets me blocked.
I guess the corp controlled gov doesn't like rabblerousers like me. LOL.

Words cut off, negro, jew, ****, ****, *****, hoe,.. on and on it goes

Yahoo has taken my account to just brushing all comments dry, an empty field. Also time limiting me to even stay connected on the News comments line all over a Israeli issue. Wow, what a comapny

It has been moved, not fixed. It censored "classification" yesterday. You must stop looking for words you want to ban as parts of other words.

I think someone opened the back of the clock, and all of the gears and springs fell out.

This is a huge problem. Many words that are not even close to offensive get censored. I typed the word "Colored" and it was censored. Washington gets censored. It just keeps getting worse and Yahoo fails to even respond to any concerns about this growing problem. I understand outright curse words, but the censoring is just making posts unreadable. I wish Yahoo would at least respond to this concern.

Can't even type Washington D.C. in without it being censored.

      • LarryLarry commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I see what is going on! It is censoring the two letter combinations used in ****** advertisements, even though they are parts of other words.

These combinations must be allowed when they are parts of other words, or nobody can write anything. And the one that IS an ordinary word must be allowed.

      • LarryLarry commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Now it is censoring parts the names of Republican leaders in the house. Is that your intention?

I think it is more likely that the censor is programmed wrong.

Fix it so it does nothing but censor real isolated words (not parts of other words, which it is censoring) and that it ignores words that have ordinary meanings. If you have rocks in your head, it has nothing to do with ****** speech. ***-for-tat is an argument mode. Embarrass is a real word with no ****** overtones.

I think someone came up with a new device intended to work faster by parsing parts of words. if so, it is broken software. Either that, or someone is putting in two letter abbreviations from slang.

A little ridiculous if you ask me.
        Here's an example:

Only 22% of entering high school fres#$%$an actually graduate...

The word trying to be typed out - "freshman"

      • Lise BrouilletteLise Brouillette commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

And now I can't even submit the fardling idea without the bot ravaging that also. Should read "any word that has the letters a s s , h o m o..."

Political correctness can be pushed to ridiculous lengths and this is one of them. Good flamin' grief, man.

Not to mention "surpasses" and "assuming." But my all-time favorite was an article on astronomy, where they kept censoring "Uranus." Happily, I haven't seen that in a while.

Here's a thought Yahoo! Please stop censoring our comments. We've all heard and read much worse than what we read on the comment boards. Besides users just make new abbreviations every time you try to stop free speech. It's the way people insult each other here that should get their comments censored/deleted, not the letters or words they use. Maybe you're inventing a new texting language for younger users? LMAO&ROFL@Y! Understand?

Yeah most stupidest thing i ever saw! They must have hired some kids to do this ****.

      • WatcherWatcher commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

It's not just c and k, it's also g and t, plus h and m. The comment board is starting to look like a Swearfest. More letters are being hidden by the minute. By the end of the day, all replies will look like this...#$%$rt imp#$%$st ral#$%$pt twi#$%$. Can't wait until the letter e gets involved and our thoughts become unreadable.

You're right, it's quite annoying. the words that end on C and K together aren't all swears...just like words like Class, Grass, and Pass aren't swears. It seems that Yahoo is over-censoring aside from the common swears, but not leaving the rest of the dictionary alone.

      • Anonymous commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

In the last few days, yahoo's GENIUSES altered their word filter, and if you can believe it, actually found a way to make it even more inane, byzantine, and downright stupid. Yahoo execs are scared of words. We're not, but they are, and they wet themselves if you say anything too REAL.
